  • Welcome to my world!

YUP! I'm a mom and I'm totin' my camera and I'm PROUD of it!! After years of creating and learning and recreating and getting ahead of technology so I could create, learn and create some more, I found myself ready to branch out into a business where I could share my creativity with others. Just consider me obsessed...a passionate creative who is completely obsessed with the notion that beauty is alive and I have only to peek through my lens to see it...everywhere and in everyone!!
I hope to see you here often as I do my best to post new content weekly or more!! You won't want to miss the new categories I have planned such as photography tips for hip moms (you're a hip mom whether you know it or not!) and local small business features. Lots of new plans are in the mix and you won't want to miss a single post!
Be sure to like me on facebook for even more fun updates and photos and a (soon to come) behind the scenes look at what I do...or don't do...lol

Stepping back

At times, there are mountains that the Lord asks us to climb that we think would be better left alone due to the natural agenda we feel our lives should follow.  About 7 months ago, I discovered that I had mono.  A really ultra bad case of it.  If you know me, then you know I don’t have the word “stop” anywhere on my life’s list.  After multiple alarming episodes of hearing loss, tunnel vision and confusion  that the doctors couldn’t explain away, I realized that it was time to slow down and reevaluate what was really important.  I would love to say that everything is back to normal but it seems I now have chronic Epstein Bar virus to keep me at a slower pace indefinitely.  For sure, “…all things work together for good for them who love the Lord who are the called according to HIS purpose.”   A few things I know for sure, after much praying these last few months:  my husband and children are top priority, the Lord can handle my troubles better than I can, everything in moderation…including photography!

Needless to say, I’ve been forced to step back a bit from my business to take care of myself and get back into some sort of functionality.  It has given me endless opportunity to visualize personal projects that I have been putting off.  Here is the first of many, my sweet little Chloe!  In unpacking boxes that my mother gave me when downsizing, I discovered a dress she had made for me that had been one of my absolute favorites, considering that “Little House on the Prairie” was my all time favorite show at the ripe age of 4.  It was a bit big for Chloe at the time so we had to wait an entire year for this session.  It was well worth the wait…I hope you enjoy these pics of my sweet ray of sunshine!

Thank you! Poor Chloe was literally dripping with sweat and her hair was completely wet by that last photo. She was getting fussy too but still let me squeeze in a few more poses! She really is a sweet heart! The last two are my absolute favs too!

Blown away

Okay, so we weren’t COMPLETELY blown away, but seriously…it was THE windiest day as of yet that I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in!  Luke took it like the man he was, but I admit I was a bit whiny about it myself.  And BLESS his mom’s heart!  She was getting blown ALLLLL over the place trying to hold my scrim which, by the way,  is big enough to give flight to an elephant!  One minute she’d be there and the next she was floating away with a giggle…I’m afraid I had a few moments of enjoyment at her expense!!!  Looking back, I wish I had grabbed a couple shots to document her struggle!

Luckily, I DID get plenty and more awesome shots of the star of the day!!!  Here are two to get us started with more to share soon!

It’s always a pleasure for me to get to know these kids and hear their plans for the future.  Luke, there is not a doubt in my mind that you are going to be successful.  I look forward to seeing your progress through the years!!

New Hope: He knows your name

Why is it that some of us have a full life, while others are despairing of any hope with which to live? It’s a question that most of us with the full life forget to ask. It’s a question that those without hope ask every day, unless… Unless WE actively seek out those with nowhere to turn and offer them the unconditional love and help that can bring healing.

Last night’s annual banquet for the New Hope Pregnancy Center was powerful.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend, then I challenge you to make it a point to do so next year.  Our community needs New Hope, and New Hope needs us, whether it be in service, prayer, or donation.

What if it was your child reaching out for hope?

Wonser Family

Now THIS is an unforgettable family!  I had the honor of photographing them about a year and half ago and I still love looking at their session.  This time, we needed a field to romp around in, and wouldn’t you know, there was a perfect one just down the street from where they lived!  The only problem was the hour at which the lighting was juuuuuuust perfect!  I must have THE best clients in the world because if a photographer called me and suggested that I get myself, my husband, and my children up, dressed, beautiful AND happy, and AT the location at 8 a.m., I’d fiddle with the idea of finding myself a different photographer!!!  I was braced for an awkward silence on the other end of the line when I suggested such a preposterous hour, but only a cheerful…”No problem” came through…I still wonder if that’s because I was talking to Mr. Dad rather than Mrs. Mom, lol!

I will always be humbled by such super sweet clients that are willing to go to all kinds of torture to get their images…

I can’t wait to share more!!!

Baby on the GO!

Life certainly is a frenzied blur!  I was having such a day, the day AFTER my scheduled flight home from Vegas.  I was still sitting in the airport awaiting my flight home to my family, prepared to endure the last few hours of crowded solitude, when around the corner of the chair next to me peered the most adorable, bright and cheerful toddler.  Her effect was immediate!  I must have broken into the biggest grin because I was straightway rewarded with an equally happy yet sidecast smile.  We played back and forth a bit with peekaboo glances while I finished my coffee and strudel enjoying each others distant company.  I could hear her parent’s cautions as she strayed farther than their comfort and watched with pleasant surprise as she scampered right back to their side.  Finally, I could stand it no longer.  I HAD to take her picture!  I waited until everyone seemed settled then turned around and introduced myself….sure to compliment them on their beautiful daughter and my need to record that sweet sweet face.   As it turned out, we found ourselves fast friends and reluctant to end our conversation as my flight called for boarding, but not before I snapped off a few pictures of their beautiful darling!

It was such a pleasure (and I mean that in the most sincere way) to meet this family and have the opportunity to talk with them at length.  I wish America were filled with families such as this one!  To the parents of this beautiful baby, thank you again for the opportunity to photograph your daughter.  Families such as yours make America the Beautiful…inside and out!
